Go West Young Man!

Setup

While in town, the party had discovered that the Duke was traveling west to visit the site of an ancient civilization. The party decides to try and see if they can find some object that the Duke would like in that city. They could use this object as a way of gaining access to the Duke to tell him about LeBlank. On their way, they meet two new characters who join their party. They find the city, avoid the decay monsters, and find the home of Malloc. Willie sneaks up to the house and looks in. The naga winks at him! The party decides to brave a meeting. Malloc turns out to be quite nice and offers them help on their task. He knows the Duke and gives them a note that will give them credibility with the Duke. They return, meet with the Duke and arrange a meeting with the entire party where they will bring all their physical evidence. The meeting happens without problem and the Duke has Bello and LeBlank arrested.

To the west of Gimel is an old city. This city was hit by one of the nuclear bombs and is still hot. This magic heat has created several strange monsters. One of these monsters is the Decay Monster which can age anything that it touches. This is the same monster seen in the shelter inside the mountain north of Gimel. These monsters are actually caused by the radioactive material and serve the useful purpose of aging this material so that it is no longer radioactive. Once all the material has been converted to normal matter, the creatures then wander about causing everything in their path to decay at a very great rate. Characters attacked by one of these creatures will age 5 years for each hit.

When the party reaches the city, they will find the entire city glowing from the magical energy. A Detect Magic spell will knock the character out for 1d4 rounds. There are no 'magical' items within the city that will function outside the city. The reason is that the city and its residual energy are the power source for these items. All Magic User spells are effected as by the Wild Magic rules in the Tome of Magic book. The monsters in the city are all effected by the magic as well. Those who were here when the bomb went off are mutated into unknown number of forms. Some of these creatures could survive the outside world but many are forever linked to the energy that created them.

One such creature is Malloc. Malloc is a mutated human which looks like a Naga. Malloc is very wise and has a LG alignment. Malloc will sense the characters plight and offer assistance. Since Malloc cannot leave the city, he hungers for visitors and news. The Duke has visited him several times and they are good friends. Malloc will be able to assist in a meeting with the Duke by providing the characters with a sign of Malloc's assurances that the party has a just cause. This sign will be some object with Malloc's sign and a message in the old Earth language that the Duke has been learning from Malloc.

With this sign from Malloc, the party, if disguised, will be able to obtain an audience with the Duke. The Duke will be forced to listen to the party once he reads the message from Malloc. If the party lays out the evidence before the Duke and answers his questions, then LeBlank will be detained and the Bello's house will be searched. The Knife will be found and the party will receive a formal pardon and medals of honor.

The Black Glove will not be pleased with the medeling that the party has done and will repay that wrong.
