Javid was born in a small town on the eastern side of Azul near the shore. Javid was always a religious person and had a special gift for knowing how to help those in need. The local priest recognized Javid's talent and convinced his parents to dedicate Javid to the church.
Those years were good for Javid. They were full of learning, praying, studying, and most of all, helping those of his parish that were in need. Javid's gift was soon manifested by performing the Cure Light Wounds spell on a critically injured farmer before completing his Initiate training. The priest was so moved that Javid was promoted on the spot.
Javid always believed that he would live out his
life caring for the locals but that was not to be. At the age
of 12, he was drafted into the Duke's service as a military healer.
Javid was shocked to be yanked from his home, his priest, his
family, and most of all his parishioners. After the shock wore
off, Javid began to get satisfaction from his work. That all changed
when he got a new commander named Millard.
Millard was a cold man with little feelings for his
men. Millard did not believe that the enemy had any rights and
would use whatever means to defeat his enemy. This did not sit
well with Javid or the other healers. Javid organized a meeting
where the healers expressed their concerns to Millard. Millard
was livid that anyone would question his authority or judgment
and the entire group was reprimanded.
After that, work held little joy for Javid. Not too long after this incident, Javid was transferred to a fort on the western border of Azul. Millard was the commander of the border fort but only visited it once a month. For Javid, things were somewhat better since the border fort was quiet and Millard was not a daily presence.
About 6 months after Javid was transferred to the border fort, he was picked for a simple mission to deliver a message to the Duke Rudrik of Alban.
